BlogOn Toys Introduction

Hello.  This is one of my first blog events and I would be lying if I said I was excited. I mean, I’m really looking forward to it but at the forefront of my mind all I can think is ‘Holy crap I will have to speak to people. About blogging!’  I’m a very inexperienced blogger who is slowly navigating the blogosphere and learning everyday. This is why I mainly wanted to come. I need to push myself. To admit that blogging is something I am passionate about and not my dirty little secret. Enough waffle, here’s the answers to those get to know me questions before I turn you away from my over anxious, eager to please self!

Q1.  What is the best thing about blogging?

A1.  For me blogging is my big escape. I love to write in a slightly comedic/diary style and I get to experiement and share my stories.

Q2.  What was your dream job when you were growing up?

A2.  Writer. I have always dreamt of sitting at a desk, deep in research and post it notes. I just haven’t been able to afford a house with enough room for a desk yet.

Q3.  What is your lucky number?

A3.  8

Q4.  What is your favourite season?

A4.  Autumn, it’s just the best.

Q5.  If you had to choose one what would your favourite dish from the Chinese be?

A5.  Tough one as I love all Chinese food! Probably spring rolls.

Q6.  What is your useless talent?

A6.  I can survive on no sleep. As an insomniac who has worked crazy shifts for 12 years now and with two toddlers I regularly have to come off a nighsthift and watch the kids all day before getting to bed. Its not uncommon for me to be about 3 days a week down on sleep.

Q7.  If you could keep any animal as a pet what would you choose?

A7.  Chickens. We just had to give ours up as both kids had an allergic reaction to them.

Q8.  Which one meal would you eat forever? (If you had to choose one!)

A8.  Spag bol. Never get fed up of it.

Q9.  What is the last thing you check before you lock your front door?

A9.  If the cats in or out.

Q10.  If you won £50,000 what would be the first thing you would buy?

A10.  A nice greeting card to write a note to my boss begging for a sabatical to go travel for a year.

Q11.  What is your favourite social media channel?

A11.  Twitter, I love the interaction there.

Q12.  Tell us more about your best ever holiday

A12.  Egypt when I was 22. First big holiday with my now husband. I did all the things I am terrified of including scuba diving. I hate water and cannot imagine doing it now but on that holiday we were living our very best lives!

Q13.  Name one cake you rock at baking

A13.  All of the cake. I am a master baker. No modesty on that count.

Q14.  Which session are you most looking forward to?

A14.  Book writing.

Q15.  What is your favourite book ever?

A15.  Creed by James Herbert. First horror book I had read at the age of 13 it led me onto Stephen King then Neil Gaiman and I still love it.

Q16.  Which special event is your favourite? (Halloween, Christmas etc)

A16.  My birthday. I love to be spoiled and love a party.

Q17.  If the internet vanished right now how would you share your message or life story without a blog?

A17.  Little post it notes of my words littered around peoples windscreens.

Phew! Hope his has helped give an idea of who I am. Can’t wait to meet all of you at the event and hopefully manage to put my big girl pants on and get over my nervousness to enjoy it all!

  1. Hey Pam!
I’m going to try my best to look out for you but I know it’s not going to be easy! I’m not so good. I’ll have in my mind what I remember from your photo but sometimes people look nothing like their photo! Great ‘meeting’ you here and I look forward to meeting you. You should apply to be on the Great British Bake Off btw. I would be so rubbish at that.

  2. Hiya Pam! Don’t panic. I know we always say that, and I was nervous before my first blogging event, but I came away so inspired and packed with ideas and confidence. You will love it, no-one will look down on you or think you are less of a blogger then them – it’s such a lovely bunch of folks. I’ll be on the check in – say hiya because it’s all a blur after about 10 minutes 😀

  3. Hi Pam, lovely to read your blog post. I too am equally anxious about attending Blog On, I’ve been a couple of years ago (before I gave up blogging and returned) and everyone was always super friendly there, it was always a fantastic day. You’ll love it! Bex x

  4. We’ve all been newbies at blogging events at some point – the way to look at it is that every single person there has blogging in common with you. I’m very much an autumn person too – as much as I have enjoyed the heatwave this summer, I just don’t do ‘hot’ well.

  5. It’s my second time at BlogOn – I was incredibly nervous last year and everyone was so lovely. This year I’m just as nervous, but hopefully they will have eased by the time I get there. Oh and if no one’s said it…bring a BIG suitcase! I’m not even kidding x

  6. PAM! Spag bol, yes please 🙂

BlogON is a fantastic event for new bloggers and hopefully after getting there and settling in the nerves will go and you’ll enjoy yourself. We are open to any questions or chat about anything so feel free to say hi 🙂

  7. Hi Pam,
some great answers, not loving your insomnia though bless you.
I have always found a smiling face in a sea of people and sought them out, tentively going over and saying Hi and before I know it I join in with the smiling and those around are always so welcoming, friendly & helpful. BlogOn is great as it doesn’t have quite so many attendees as some of the larger London conferences on Blogging and is actually the best one I have attended and I have been to may fair share of conferences.
I go to learn, but predominately it is to network with other bloggers, meeting in person those we have met just virtually online.
I hope you enjoy it and I would love to say Hi, if I see you,
